BTS Opens Up About Mental Struggles During Military Service

BTS members are finally reuniting, with RM, V, Jimin, and Jungkook completing their military service. But behind the celebrations, the members have opened up about the emotional and mental challenges they faced during their time in the military.

During a recent Weverse Live, BTS leader RM spoke about his struggles with severe insomnia, describing months where he couldn’t sleep or even write songs. He revealed that he once went over 70 hours without sleep and had to seek therapy to help him cope. RM admitted that for the first time since he was 14, he was unable to write music, saying, “I lived like a zombie.”

Many fans believe RM’s insomnia might have been worsened by the NewJeans controversy in 2024, when his album was released at the same time as NewJeans’ under their shared company HYBE, sparking internal tension and backlash online.

Other BTS members also shared their pain. V mentioned harsh online comments criticizing him for taking vacations during service, while Jimin revealed that Jungkook suffered every day, although he didn’t go into detail.

One of the biggest controversies came when Korean broadcaster JTBC falsely claimed that Suga was caught speeding on a scooter. After fans investigated, it was proven the footage wasn’t him. JTBC later apologized, but the incident left emotional scars, especially after funeral wreaths were sent to HYBE as a symbol of disrespect towards Suga.

Despite the attacks and mental health challenges, BTS continues to stay strong with the support of their loyal fanbase, ARMY. Fans have expressed their love and concern, with many hoping the group can finally heal and find peace now that they’re back together.

As BTS prepares for their reunion, the hope is that their next chapter brings more happiness than hardship.
