Netflix has officially revealed the release schedule for the fifth and final season of the hit series Stranger Things.
The Duffer Brothers’ beloved show will take over the holiday season, with episodes arriving in three parts: the day before Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the grand finale on New Year’s Eve.
The release schedule is as follows:
- Volume 1: November 26, 5 PM PT
- Volume 2: Christmas Day, 5 PM PT
- Finale: December 31, 5 PM PT
All episodes will be available worldwide simultaneously, though times may vary depending on your local timezone.
While it’s unclear how the episodes are split between the first two volumes, the final episode—titled “The Rightside Up”—will close out the series on New Year’s Eve.
This staggered release blends Netflix’s popular all-at-once streaming style with a new approach to creating holiday viewing events, following successful launches like Squid Game Season 2.
The show’s narrative picks up after the Upside Down’s apocalyptic invasion of Hawkins, Indiana, at the end of Season 4. Fans will be eager to see how the gang of familiar faces—Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, and others—face the new challenges ahead.
Season 5 features eight episodes with intriguing titles such as “The Turnbow Trap,” “Shock Jock,” “Sorcerer,” and “Escape from Camazotz.” Notably, director Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Mist) helms two episodes, while the Duffer Brothers will direct three, including the series finale.
Adding excitement to the final season, Linda Hamilton joins the cast in an undisclosed role, with Jamie Campbell Bower returning as the villain Vecna.
While the TV series concludes, the Stranger Things franchise is far from over. The stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow has earned five Tony nominations, including a win for technical achievement.
