Apple is enhancing its Personal Voice feature in iOS 19, making it faster and easier for users to create a synthesized voice that mimics their natural voice.
Originally launched in iOS 17, this feature allows those at risk of losing their ability to speak to preserve their voice, enabling them to communicate with others even as their speech ability declines.
In the upcoming iOS 19 update, Apple has made significant strides in making this feature more efficient.
With advancements in on-device machine learning and artificial intelligence, users can now create a personalized, natural-sounding voice in less than a minute, a drastic improvement from the initial 15-minute process when it was first introduced.
Additionally, iOS 19 will expand the feature’s capabilities to support Spanish (Mexico), offering greater accessibility for Spanish-speaking users.
Personal Voice seamlessly integrates with Live Speech, another Apple accessibility feature. Live Speech allows users to type out what they want to say, which is then spoken aloud in real-time during in-person conversations, phone calls, and FaceTime video calls.
While this feature is already available on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac, the enhancements made in iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16 will make this life-changing technology even more accessible for people who need it most.
