Late singer Liam Payne left behind a fortune worth over $32 million without a known will, according to official records in the U.K. The former One Direction member, who passed away last year at age 31, did not leave instructions for his estate.
His former partner, Cheryl Tweedy, the mother of his 8-year-old son Bear, has been appointed as one of the administrators of his estate. They were in a relationship from 2016 to 2018 but never married.
Music lawyer Richard Mark Bray has also been named as a co-administrator. Official documents state the gross value of Payne’s estate was around £28.6 million ($37.9 million). After settling debts and expenses, the net worth came to £24.2 million ($32.2 million).
Payne died on October 16, 2023, after falling from a third-floor hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Toxicology tests found alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant in his system.
A postmortem confirmed he died from polytrauma—suffering multiple internal and external injuries. He was honored at the BRIT Awards in March with a tribute video showing clips from his early music career.
As a member of One Direction, Payne achieved worldwide fame, with the group earning four Billboard No. 1 albums, six top 10 U.S. hits, and multiple sold-out world tours.
After the group’s hiatus in 2015, he began a solo career with hits like “Strip That Down”, which reached No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
