Samsung is preparing to launch One UI 8, its next major software update based on Android 16, in early July 2025.

The new version is expected to debut alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 at Samsung’s Unpacked event in New York.

This timing means Samsung could release Android 16 to Galaxy users before Google rolls it out to its Pixel 10 series, which is expected in August. Samsung’s decision reflects its push to match Google’s faster Android release cycle.

Android 16 is expected to include better desktop mode support, stronger health tools, and new anti-theft features. Leaks suggest that One UI 8 will also bring redesigned apps and minor interface changes.

Samsung is already testing One UI 8. Test firmware has appeared for the Galaxy S25 series, and a Geekbench listing showed the Galaxy Z Flip 6 running Android 16.

The Galaxy S25 series, which launched in January 2025 with One UI 7, may get the One UI 8 update shortly after the new foldables. Samsung’s early move shows a clear response to user feedback and Google’s new software release pace.

This earlier launch could also mean faster updates for older models, including the Galaxy S24 and S23 series.

Many Galaxy users are hoping for a smoother and quicker update process when One UI 8 rolls out later this year.

For now, Samsung has not officially confirmed the launch date or the full features of One UI 8.
