Samsung is preparing to fix one of its biggest mistakes in recent years. The company recently paused the rollout of its One UI 7 software update after a serious issue was found.
The update, based on Android 15, started rolling out on April 7 but was quickly halted due to problems that were not caught during testing.
The update was first available for Galaxy S24 phones and newer foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6. However, users in the US had to wait longer, and the rollout was paused again over the weekend.
Samsung has now confirmed that the issue has been fixed. A company representative posted on Samsung’s Korean community forum that updates will begin again soon. The exact date has not been shared yet.
Samsung apologized to users for the trouble and said it has completed all necessary checks. While the update will resume soon for the latest flagship phones, older Galaxy devices will have to wait until May or June to receive One UI 7.
This situation has drawn comparisons to the Galaxy Note 7 crisis, which hurt Samsung’s reputation in the past. The company hopes to move forward with a smoother rollout and regain user trust.
By the time all phones get One UI 7, Samsung may already launch One UI 8 with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. It remains to be seen how quickly Samsung can recover from this software setback.
