Meta and Samsung Explore Wearable Tech with Cameras

Samsung is exploring earbuds with built-in cameras, while Meta is advancing its smart glasses lineup, according to a Bloomberg report.

These innovations aim to combine convenience with cutting-edge technology, but challenges remain.

Camera Earbuds: A New Frontier?

Samsung is reportedly “considering” earbuds with cameras, though no specific details have emerged. Meta’s prototype “Camera Buds” would allow users to analyze objects in view.

However, design issues, like poor lens angles and visibility problems, may delay or cancel the project.

Meta’s 2025 Smart Glasses

Meta is focusing on two new smart glasses models for 2025:

  • “Supernova 2” Oakley-style frames designed for athletes, featuring a camera for capturing action.
  • “Hypernova” Ray-Ban-style glasses, priced around $1,000, with a display on the right lens for notifications, photos, and simple apps. A wristband controller may replace touch controls on the frame.

Long-Term Plans

Meta is also working on a consumer-ready “Artemis” smart glasses model, expected by 2027.

The company is resuming development on a smartwatch that could complement its smart glasses, showing images captured by the devices.

While Samsung’s camera earbuds remain in early discussions, Meta’s detailed roadmap highlights its commitment to wearable tech, even as challenges like usability and pricing persist.
