Drake’s legal battle against Universal Music Group (UMG) and iHeartRadio is set to go to court in Texas on January 28, 2025.

The rapper has accused UMG of defamation in connection with Kendrick Lamar’s song “Not Like Us,” claiming that the song includes false allegations about him.

In addition to the defamation claims, Drake also alleges that UMG and iHeartRadio conspired to artificially boost the song’s popularity.

He accuses the companies of using unethical practices, including a “pay-to-play” scheme to increase airplay and deceptive marketing tactics to manipulate the song’s success.

Drake’s legal filings suggest that UMG knowingly allowed harmful content to be associated with him, causing significant damage to his reputation.

This legal action follows a series of pre-action petitions aimed at gathering evidence before filing a formal lawsuit against the companies involved.
