‘Ghost of Tsushima’ to Be Adapted into Anime for Crunchyroll

Sony has announced a new anime series based on the popular “Ghost of Tsushima” video game, set to premiere exclusively on Crunchyroll in 2027.

This exciting project brings together multiple Sony entities, with Crunchyroll, Aniplex, and PlayStation Studios collaborating on the adaptation.

A Bold New Anime Adaptation

The series will be produced by Aniplex, the studio behind hits like Demon Slayer and Sword Art Online.

Directed by Takanobu Mizuno, with story composition by Gen Urobuchi, the anime will bring the samurai aesthetics of “Ghost of Tsushima: Legends” to life with cinematic storytelling and stunning visuals.

Kamikaze Douga will handle the animation, and Sony Music will provide the music and soundtrack for the series.

A Rich World to Explore

The “Ghost of Tsushima” game, developed by Sucker Punch Productions, is set in feudal Japan and has sold over 13 million copies globally since its release in 2020.

Its “Legends” multiplayer mode, inspired by Japanese mythology, will be central to the anime adaptation. A sequel, Ghost of Yōtei, is also set to launch in 2025, continuing the story with a new protagonist.

PlayStation Productions’ First Anime

This marks PlayStation Productions’ first anime adaptation. The studio has previously worked on successful projects like Uncharted and The Last of Us.

Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, expressed excitement over the potential of “Ghost of Tsushima” as the perfect anime project, combining the immersive world of the game with the rich Japanese mythology of “Legends.”

Fans can look forward to a bold and groundbreaking anime experience when the series premieres in 2027.
