Android 15 Security Update for Pixel: What You Need to Know

Google Pixel 6

Google has confirmed that a new Android 15 update is rolling out for Pixel devices, bringing important security and privacy improvements.

This update includes real-time, on-device threat monitoring, which aims to protect users from malware and scam calls. These upgrades make Android 15 more secure, putting it ahead of Apple in some areas.

One of the main highlights of this update is a fix for a serious system vulnerability (CVE-2024-43767) that could allow remote code execution with no extra privileges. Though rated as high-severity, there have been no reports of active exploitation so far.

Google is encouraging Pixel owners to update their devices as soon as possible to address this and other security concerns.

While this update is mainly for Pixel devices, it will also affect other Android models.

However, Samsung Galaxy devices, which are still using One UI 7, have not yet received the Android 15 beta, so these fixes will not be available for Galaxy users at this time.

Google ensures that other Android manufacturers are notified of security issues well in advance, but it may take time for those fixes to roll out on their devices.

As of now, it’s still unclear whether these fixes will be included in updates for non-Pixel Android phones.

The update also includes important Qualcomm fixes, which will be included in Samsung’s December security release. However, users of Galaxy devices might experience delays in receiving these fixes.

For Pixel owners, the update will be rolled out region by region, and users are advised to update their devices as soon as possible to ensure they are protected.
