Community Note Slams Microsoft’s Claim About Snapdragon Copilot+ PCs

Microsoft recently faced backlash on X after claiming that its Copilot+ PCs, powered by Snapdragon processors, are “the fastest, most intelligent Windows PCs ever.”

A Community Note soon debunked this assertion, with users pointing out that Snapdragon processors have significantly less computing power compared to Intel and AMD chips. They also highlighted that these devices lack gaming functionality and certain AI features are still not implemented.

The criticism reflects the challenges facing Arm-based PCs, like the Copilot+ devices, which run on Snapdragon processors.

While these chips are known for their efficiency and long battery life, they still fall short when it comes to performance for more demanding tasks like gaming or running certain productivity apps. This is mainly due to the architectural differences between Arm and x86 processors.

Despite predictions that Arm-based PCs might capture a large share of the market in the next few years, current sales data shows that they still make up a tiny fraction of the overall PC market.

While the battery life of Snapdragon-powered devices remains impressive, Intel and AMD have caught up in terms of performance and efficiency.

For users who mainly need a laptop for web-based tasks and basic productivity, a Copilot+ PC may be a viable option, offering solid performance and excellent battery life in a sleek package. However, when it comes to raw power and software compatibility, Intel and AMD still lead the pack.
