Windows Users Face Major Security Threat—450 Million Need to Update Now

Microsoft has issued a stark warning for 450 million Windows users to act now, following the discovery of a serious vulnerability in the operating system.

ESET recently revealed that this flaw, linked to a browser vulnerability, was being exploited by the Russia-backed RomCom cyber group to install malware on affected PCs.

The attack, which doesn’t require user interaction, takes advantage of two security holes to run malicious code when a victim visits a compromised website.

To protect themselves, users must ensure their PCs are updated. However, the clock is ticking, especially for those on Windows 10, which will lose support next October.

While Microsoft offers a $30 deal to extend support for an additional year, users should consider upgrading to Windows 11 or buying new hardware to stay protected.

For those on unsupported versions, they risk leaving their PCs vulnerable to similar attacks.
