Sony Plans Handheld Console to Rival Nintendo and Microsoft

Sony is reportedly working on a new handheld gaming console that would allow users to play PlayStation 5 games on the go.

Set to compete with Nintendo and Microsoft, the device is likely years away from release, according to Bloomberg.

Building on the PlayStation Portal, which streams PS5 games over Wi-Fi, this new console could natively run games without needing an active internet connection.

Sony’s push into portable gaming follows the success of the Nintendo Switch and the rise of PC handhelds like the Steam Deck.

This marks Sony’s return to the handheld market after discontinuing the PS Vita and PlayStation Portable.
