Qualcomm CEO: More Companies in Windows on Arm Space is ‘Fantastic’

Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon expressed excitement about new companies entering the Windows on Arm computer chip market. During a recent investor event, he called this development “fantastic.”

Amon believes new competitors could help solve a key weakness in Windows on Arm computers: gaming. Currently, some games don’t work well or at all on Arm-based Windows devices. This is because many games use software that only works with traditional Intel-style processors.

Reports suggest Nvidia might be one of these new competitors. As a major gaming company, Nvidia could help bring more games to Windows on Arm computers.

Qualcomm has spent eight years developing Windows on Arm technology. The company previously had an exclusive agreement with Microsoft. Now that this agreement has ended, other companies can make chips for Windows on Arm devices.

Amon thinks new companies entering the market will help prove that Windows on Arm is a valid alternative to traditional computers. He also welcomes help in expanding the number of programs that work on these devices.

While new competitors were expected to announce products at CES, these plans may have been delayed.
