Casio Smart Ring

Casio has introduced its first-ever smart ring, the CRW-001-1JR, marking the company’s 50th anniversary in digital watches.

The wearable, which is about the size of a small coin, features a retro six-segment LCD screen capable of showing time, date, and even a stopwatch function.

Launching in Japan this December for ¥19,800 (roughly $128), the CRW-001-1JR has three functional buttons that can adjust time zones and activate a flashing alarm. The ring is powered by a replaceable battery, with a two-year life span, and is waterproof.

Unlike Timex’s recent wearable ring, which uses a stretchable band, Casio’s ring has a fixed size of US 10.5.

For smaller fingers, spacers are included, but larger fingers will need an alternative solution. The ring is built using metal injection molding for a high-quality finish.

Though Casio previously released non-functional ring designs, this new model marks the company’s first attempt at a truly wearable digital watch in ring form.
