Google TV Streamer Update Brings New Audio Options

Google TV Streamer

Google has released the first update for its TV Streamer since its August 2024 launch, focusing on audio control improvements. Users can now manually select their preferred audio output format.

Key Features:

  • New audio output options in settings menu:
    • Dolby Digital
    • Dolby Digital Plus
    • PCM stereo
  • Automatic setting remains the default option

While the update improves audio flexibility, it lacks full pass-through support, which was available on the older Chromecast with Google TV (4K).

This limitation might disappoint home theater enthusiasts, though casual users with standard soundbar setups should find the new options sufficient.

The Google TV Streamer, priced at $100, continues to offer 4K resolution at 60fps and supports various streaming services through its app library.
