YouTube Music is rolling out a small but useful change that makes it easier to browse through its auto-generated My Mix playlists.
Instead of generic labels like “My Mix 1” or “My Mix 2,” users are now seeing descriptive names that better reflect the music selection inside each mix.
A More Personalized Approach to My Mixes
Previously, users had to check the list of featured artists or album artwork to figure out the vibe of a mix.
Now, YouTube Music is automatically assigning themed names based on the mix’s content. Examples include:
- “Modern Indie Allure” (Cold War Kids, Vampire Weekend, St. Vincent)
- “Indie Pop Gems” (Clairo, Billie Eilish, King Princess, Alex G)
- “Classic Hits Reimagined” (The Beatles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2)
- “Alt Rock Masterpieces” (The Strokes, The Voidz, Phoenix, Foster the People)
Still a Work in Progress
While the cover art still uses the original My Mix numbering (1-7), this change makes the Mixed for You carousel feel more personalized and easier to navigate.
Other curated mixes like My Supermix, Discover Mix, Archive Mix, Replay Mix, and New Release Mix remain unchanged.
The update is currently being spotted on Android, iOS, and the web, though it hasn’t rolled out widely yet.
This tweak feels similar to Google Photos’ AI-generated names for Memories, adding a touch of customization to the YouTube Music experience.
