YouTube Music Adds New Lyrics Sharing Feature for Android and iOS

YouTube Music has officially rolled out a new lyrics sharing feature on both Android and iOS devices, allowing users to highlight and share up to five lines of song lyrics in a visually styled format. This feature is available in YouTube Music version 8.24 for both free and paid users.

To use it, listeners open the Now Playing screen and go to the Lyrics tab, where a new “Share” button appears. Tapping it opens a selection interface that lets users choose up to five lines of lyrics. If more than five lines are selected, the choice resets automatically.

After selecting lyrics, users can pick from ten background colors, including an option that matches the Now Playing screen’s background. The lyric card shows the album artwork, song title, artist name, and a subtle YouTube Music logo.

Users can then save the lyric card image or share it directly with apps like Instagram, WhatsApp, and more. This makes it easier to post favorite lyrics on social media or messaging platforms.

The feature was tested since April 2025 and is now widely available, although some users might need to force stop and reopen the app to see it.

This new tool brings YouTube Music closer to competitors like Spotify and Apple Music, which already offer similar lyric-sharing capabilities. It also reflects the trend of making music apps more interactive and social.

The rollout is part of YouTube Music’s ongoing efforts to improve user engagement and enrich the listening experience across platforms.
