Starting July 15, 2025, YouTube will change its monetization rules to pay only creators who use their real voice and produce original content. The platform aims to improve content quality and support authentic creators by removing financial rewards from low-effort and repetitive videos.
Under the new policy, videos that reuse or repurpose third-party material without significant transformation will no longer be eligible for monetization. This includes copied content, fully AI-generated videos, and uploads that show minimal human input or commentary.
Channels that rely on automated voices or publish the same type of video repeatedly without adding new value risk losing their monetization privileges and may be removed from the YouTube Partner Program.
YouTube’s update targets mass-produced and repetitious content such as reaction compilations, remixes, and generic AI scripts. Creators must now add meaningful commentary, educational value, or original editing to reused content to remain eligible for ad revenue. The platform’s goal is to reduce “low-value” uploads that clutter the site and undermine viewer trust.
These changes reflect YouTube’s effort to better identify “inauthentic” content and reward originality. The policy update applies to all creators in the YouTube Partner Program, which requires channels to meet eligibility standards including a minimum number of subscribers and watch hours.
Creators affected by this update are advised to review their content strategies to ensure compliance and protect their monetization status.
