Diddy Seeks $50 Million Bond for Release from Jail Before Sentencing

Sean “Diddy” Combs is asking the court to release him from Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) on a $50 million bond before his sentencing on October 3, 2025. His legal team, led by Marc Agnifilo, says Combs is “the only person in a United States jail for being any sort of john.”

They argue that he was jailed for hiring professional male escorts for consensual encounters with his girlfriend, which should not justify detention.

The bond request, filed on July 29, also points to unsafe conditions at MDC, mentioning past violence against inmates. The filing notes that others charged under the Mann Act are usually released before sentencing.

Combs, 55, faces up to 10 years in prison per count. Prosecutors recommend a 4-to-5-year sentence, while Combs’ team asks for no more than 2 years. The proposed bond includes house arrest at his $48 million Miami mansion, GPS monitoring, restricted communication, and surrender of passports for Combs and his household.

Prosecutors oppose the release, citing Combs’ history of domestic violence, including a 2016 assault on ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura. They argue he is a flight risk and a danger to others. Judge Arun Subramanian previously denied a $1 million bond on July 2, highlighting Combs’ violent past.

The case centers on allegations related to “freak-off” events with coerced sexual encounters. On social media platform X, many have discussed the unprecedented $50 million bond and debated the Mann Act’s use in consensual acts.

Combs was acquitted of racketeering and sex trafficking charges, but his continued detention has raised controversy. Supporters say the punishment is too harsh for the charges.
