Xiaomi has started rolling out its new HyperOS 3 update to selected devices running Android 15, giving some older models access to a major software upgrade despite reaching the end of their standard Android update cycle.

The update is currently available as a Mi Pilot (beta) release for a limited number of Chinese-market devices. These include the Redmi K60 series and the Xiaomi Pad 6 series, according to reports from Gizmochina. Xiaomi has not yet announced a full rollout schedule, but wider availability is expected in the coming weeks.

HyperOS 3 is based on Android 15 and is, for now, limited to Chinese variants. The Redmi K-series is sold mainly in China, though similar hardware is available globally under Xiaomi’s Poco branding. The update is currently restricted to pilot testers, with a broader release planned for regular users at a later stage.

The build versions identified so far include:

  • Redmi K60: 3.0.2.0.VMNCNXM
  • Redmi K60 Pro: 3.0.3.0.VMKCNXM
  • Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro: 3.0.3.0.VMYCNXM
  • Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro Max: 3.0.1.0.VMHCNXM

While Xiaomi has not officially confirmed the full list of eligible devices, past update patterns suggest HyperOS 3 will expand to many more models over time.

The Android 15-based version of HyperOS 3 brings more than 100 system-level improvements, including smoother animations, redesigned home screen icons, improved blur effects, updated battery indicators, and better multitasking performance. It also includes HyperIsland, Xiaomi’s dynamic interface feature.

However, this version lacks several security and privacy features expected in the Android 16-based version of HyperOS 3. Missing features include Identity Check, Advanced Protection Mode, AI-powered scam detection, and Private Space. Xiaomi has not yet detailed all the differences between the two versions.

Despite these limitations, the update delivers noticeable performance optimisations, improved cross-device integration, and a more polished user interface. Industry observers say the rollout is significant, as it extends major software support to devices that were previously expected to receive only minor updates.

Xiaomi is expected to share more details on device eligibility and rollout timelines in the coming weeks.
