Wang Hua, General Manager of Xiaomi Group’s Public Relations Department, has addressed a recent controversy involving false comments on the company’s internal management platform, the Retailtong App.

The comments, initially believed to be made by Wang Xiaoyan, Vice President of Xiaomi Group, were later revealed to be fabricated by employees impersonating her.

What Happened?

In the past two days, media attention focused on comments allegedly posted by Wang Xiaoyan on the Retailtong App, a platform used for communication among offline store employees.

Upon investigation, Xiaomi discovered that the comments were not authored by Wang Xiaoyan but were instead created by staff members who had changed their avatars and nicknames to impersonate her.

Retailtong App and Its Purpose

Wang Hua clarified that the Retailtong App is designed to facilitate communication, knowledge sharing, and interaction among employees of offline stores.

However, due to the absence of a real-name authentication system, the platform allowed users to modify profiles, leading to the impersonation incident.

Xiaomi’s Corrective Actions

Real-Name System Implementation: Xiaomi has introduced a strict real-name policy for the Retailtong App to prevent further impersonation and misinformation.

Employee Accountability: The employees responsible for the incident have admitted their actions, and Xiaomi has pledged to handle the matter in accordance with its internal regulations.

Wang Hua emphasized that this was an internal issue, not a public scandal, and reassured stakeholders that Xiaomi remains committed to transparency and maintaining a positive work environment.
