Windows 11 24H2 Rollout Stopped Due to Gaming and Audio Issues

Windows 11

Microsoft has paused the rollout of the Windows 11 24H2 update due to gaming and audio issues affecting some devices.

The update, which started rolling out widely in early December, introduced new features but also caused problems for users.

Gaming Issues

For some PCs with AutoHDR enabled, users reported incorrect colors and unresponsive games.

The temporary solution is to turn off AutoHDR by navigating to Settings > System > Display > Graphics. If you haven’t updated yet, Microsoft advises staying away from the update until the issue is fixed.

Audio Problems

A more serious issue involves audio devices, including integrated speakers, Bluetooth speakers, and headsets, which stopped working after the update. The issue affects devices with Dirac Audio and the cridspapo.dll file.

Microsoft is working on a driver update to fix the problem. Users with Dirac Audio who haven’t updated will not see the 24H2 update in Windows Update due to a compatibility hold.

What to Do

If you’ve already updated and are facing these issues, Microsoft recommends waiting for the driver update. If you haven’t updated yet, avoid doing so manually to prevent these problems.

While the pause in the rollout may be disappointing, it’s a necessary step to prevent further issues for users.
