As “The White Lotus” Season 3 prepares for its premiere, fans are already speculating about where the next season of the hit series will take place.
The show, known for its luxurious and chaotic settings, is set in the tropical paradise of Ko Samui, Thailand, for this season. However, the cast is already dreaming of two contrasting locations for the next season: an African desert or a snowy ski resort.
Emmy-nominee Carrie Coon, who joins the cast this season, expressed a desire for a colder setting. She mentioned that filming in the heat of Thailand was challenging, joking that “it’s hard to act when your brain is boiling.” Coon suggested that a ski resort would be a perfect place to shoot, saying she could “survive there.”
However, not all cast members think a chilly location is likely. Sarah Catherine Hook, who also stars this season, pointed out that creator Mike White isn’t particularly fond of the cold. She added that while she’d enjoy a ski lodge setting, she wasn’t sure if it was in the cards for the show.
Despite the appeal of a winter wonderland, many cast members are drawn to the idea of a desert or African safari location for Season 4. Shalini Peiris, who plays Amrita, emphasized the uniqueness of filming in Africa or the Middle East, saying, “I think it would be very special to have it somewhere in the African continent, or the Middle East.”
Walton Goggins chimed in, expressing his preference for a warm and dry environment, adding that filming in the humid conditions of Thailand had its challenges.
Natasha Rothwell, who returns as Belinda, also weighed in, suggesting that a season set in Morocco, Egypt, or South Africa would provide an opportunity to explore meaningful cultural conversations.
Rothwell noted that her character’s presence in the series highlights the lack of diversity in luxury spaces, and a setting like Africa could further enrich the show’s narrative.
As fans eagerly await the premiere of Season 3, the cast’s visions of potential future locations for “The White Lotus” hint at even more immersive settings to come.
