While Apple TV+’s Silo is confirmed to return for seasons 3 and 4, there’s still no release date in sight. If you’re craving a similar dystopian mystery, Stephen King’s Under the Dome is a worthy substitute that scratches many of the same itches — and it’s already complete with three seasons to binge.
Under the Dome first aired on CBS in 2013 and tells the story of Chester’s Mill, a small town suddenly trapped beneath an invisible, impenetrable dome. Just like Silo, it explores class conflict, psychological pressure, and survival in isolation, as the town’s social order quickly starts to collapse.
The mystery at the heart of Under the Dome evolves with every episode, offering twists, clues, and sci-fi intrigue that push the story forward. Unlike many mystery-heavy shows, Under the Dome actually provides answers — including a conclusion to the central dome mystery by the end of season 3.
However, fans of King’s novel should note that the TV show isn’t a faithful adaptation. Characters and themes differ from the original book, focusing more on suspense and mystery rather than King’s deeper exploration of human nature. But if you’re in it for the thrills, puzzles, and plot twists, it’s still a compelling ride.
Currently you are able to watch “Under the Dome” streaming on Paramount Plus, Paramount Plus Apple TV Channel , Paramount+ Amazon Channel, Paramount+ Roku Premium Channel or buy it as download on Amazon Video.
With Silo still in production, Under the Dome is a great way to pass the time — especially if you enjoy sci-fi dystopias, layered mysteries, and high-stakes drama wrapped in a supernatural premise.
