Fans of Netflix’s Wednesday have been eagerly awaiting the second season, but the wait has been much longer than expected.
The hit supernatural series, starring Jenna Ortega as the dark and witty Wednesday Addams, became one of Netflix’s biggest successes after its November 2022 debut.
However, more than two years have passed, and Season 2 is still not here.
What Caused the Delays?
Several factors have contributed to the extended gap between seasons. The most significant delay came from the 2023 Writers’ Guild strike, which put a halt to the development of many major TV series.
Wednesday was affected by this, pushing back its writing schedule by at least four months.
Once production resumed, Netflix relocated filming from Romania to Ireland, adding another layer of logistical challenges.
Despite these setbacks, filming finally began in May 2024 and continued for about eight months, wrapping up in December 2024.
Throughout production, Netflix reassured fans by sharing behind-the-scenes moments with the cast, confirming that progress was steady.
When Will ‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Be Released?
With filming complete, the series has now entered post-production, which typically takes several months.
For reference, Season 1 finished filming in March 2022 and premiered in November 2022, an eight-month gap.
If Season 2 follows the same timeline, a release in late summer 2025—possibly around August—is likely.
However, Netflix has other major shows scheduled for release in 2025, including Squid Game Season 3 in June and Stranger Things 5 later in the year.
The streaming giant may adjust Wednesday’s release date based on these schedules, either pushing it forward to avoid overlap or delaying it slightly for maximum impact.
For now, fans can revisit Wednesday Season 1, which is still streaming on Netflix.
