WhatsApp Beta Adds Reminder Feature for Unseen Status Updates and Messages

WhatsApp has rolled out a reminder feature for unseen Status updates and unread messages to Android beta users.

First tested in September, this feature is now available in beta version 2.24.25.29 and can be enabled through the Settings > Notifications > Reminders menu.

When activated, WhatsApp will send reminder notifications for Status updates and messages you haven’t seen yet.

The notifications are personalized based on the contacts with whom you’ve interacted most frequently, using an internal algorithm.

This data is reset if you reinstall the app, as it’s not saved in backups or on the server.

While the feature prioritizes frequent contacts, some users wish for more control over which contacts they receive reminders for. WhatsApp could consider adding a selection option in future updates.

If you’re eager to try it now, Android users can join the beta program to access the feature before it’s rolled out to all users.
