WhatsApp is testing a redesigned call menu in its latest beta update for Android, version 2.25.5.8. The update is rolling out through the Google Play Beta Program, but the feature is still under development and not yet available to testers.
Currently, WhatsApp has two separate buttons for voice and video calls in chat windows. When tapped, these buttons immediately start a call, which can sometimes lead to accidental calls.
With the new design, WhatsApp is combining these buttons into a single menu that offers more call options. This will allow users to choose participants for group calls instead of calling an entire group.
Another important change is the addition of a shortcut for call links. This will let users generate and share call links directly from the chat screen, without needing to open the Calls tab or the attachment menu.
WhatsApp is making these changes to improve accessibility and prevent accidental calls. The new menu will require users to confirm their call selection before dialing, reducing unwanted calls.
Since the feature is still in development, there is no exact release date yet. However, WhatsApp is expected to roll it out in a future update. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
