Ex-Prince Andrew, now Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, has been released from police custody after his arrest on Feb. 19. Authorities are investigating claims he shared confidential information while serving as a U.K. trade envoy.
Virginia Giuffre’s brother and sister-in-law spoke out following Andrew’s release. They reacted to a photo showing him looking shocked for the first time since being arrested.
“I imagine he would be shocked,” said Amanda Roberts. “Virginia made it clear he thought he was protected by royalty for so long. He didn’t expect this day to come.”
Amanda added, “When I see him sweating—something he once said he couldn’t do—I think he’s sweating now. He’s feeling the pressure.”
The remark refers to a 2019 interview where Andrew claimed he couldn’t sweat due to a medical condition. Giuffre had previously said he “sweated all over me” at a nightclub in the early 2000s.
Andrew was arrested on his 66th birthday and spent 11 hours in custody. His arrest comes amid ongoing investigations into his alleged misconduct in public office.
Sky Roberts called the arrest “vindication” for his late sister Virginia, who died in 2025. “Against all odds she kept pushing forward. If it wasn’t for Virginia, none of this would have been uncovered,” he said.
King Charles released a statement following the arrest. He said the law must take its course and pledged the royal family’s full support and cooperation with authorities.
