V of BTS teams up with the late Bing Crosby for a revamped version of “White Christmas,” blending jazz nostalgia with modern charm.
In a stunning cross-generational collaboration, BTS’s V and the legendary Bing Crosby have joined voices for a new rendition of “White Christmas.”
The project, released on December 6, 2024, was a labor of love years in the making, orchestrated by Primary Wave and Crosby’s estate to rejuvenate the croonerโs legacy for a new audience.
The idea first gained traction in 2021 when Primary Wave acquired a stake in Bing Crosby’s estate, with the mission to crown Crosby as the “king of Christmas” for younger, global audiences. The missing piece? V, a devoted fan of jazz and Crosby, who sparked the project with a viral 2022 vlog where he crooned Crosby’s “It’s Been a Long, Long Time.” His smooth, jazz-like voice was the perfect fit, according to the estate.
The duet, crafted from an unreleased 1950s radio recording, underwent meticulous restoration with cutting-edge audio technology to sound modern yet timeless. V’s contribution, recorded just before his 2023 military enlistment, beautifully complements Crosby’s rich tones, bridging decades of musical history.
The trackโs release has ignited ARMY fan enthusiasm and doubled Crosbyโs social media following almost overnight, signaling a bright future for similar musical innovations. The team hopes the collaboration will climb the charts and potentially rival Mariah Careyโs holiday reign.
As Crosbyโs daughter Mary notes, the project embodies her fatherโs experimental spirit. She believes he would have enthusiastically embraced the chance to duet with V. Could this rendition of “White Christmas” become the next holiday classic? Only time will tell.
