Trump Defends Pam Bondi as Epstein Case Sparks Republican Rift

US President Donald Trump has defended Attorney General Pam Bondi as she faces increasing criticism over the handling of files related to Jeffrey Epstein.

In a social media post on Saturday, Trump urged his supporters to stop focusing on Epstein, saying, “Let Pam Bondi do her job.” He added that people should “not waste time and energy” on the issue.

The comments come after Bondi’s Justice Department released a memo last week stating there is no “incriminating client list” or evidence of blackmail linked to Epstein.

The memo, written jointly with the FBI, said the investigation reviewed more than 300 gigabytes of data but found no proof of hidden information involving powerful figures.

Despite this, some of Trump’s own supporters have called for Bondi to resign. Among them is far-right activist Laura Loomer, who often campaigned alongside Trump, and billionaire Elon Musk, one of Trump’s largest campaign donors.

Critics accuse Bondi of failing to release all the information she previously promised. Earlier this year, she said she had access to “a lot of names” and “a lot of flight logs” connected to Epstein, raising expectations of major revelations.

The memo’s release has also led to tension between the FBI and the Justice Department. According to CBS News, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, who had echoed Bondi’s claims in the past, was frustrated by the lack of new disclosures. Bongino reportedly had a heated meeting with Bondi at the White House last Wednesday and did not show up for work on Friday.

The case has reopened long-standing public interest in Epstein, who died in 2019 in a New York jail while awaiting trial for sex trafficking charges. The FBI and Justice Department maintain that Epstein died by suicide, though many, including some close to Trump, have questioned that conclusion.

In February, Bondi told Fox News that Epstein’s “client list” was “sitting on my desk right now to review.” However, she later clarified that she was referring to the broader Epstein case files, not a specific list of names.

The debate intensified last month after Elon Musk claimed—without providing evidence—that Trump appeared in unreleased government files related to Epstein. The White House denied the accusation, and Musk later deleted his post.

Speaking at the White House last week, Trump expressed frustration about the ongoing focus on Epstein. “Are you still talking about Jeffrey Epstein?” he asked reporters. He added, “That is unbelievable.”
