The Trump administration has decided to end all remaining federal contracts with Harvard University. These contracts are worth about $100 million.
The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) sent a letter to federal agencies asking them to review and cancel their contracts with Harvard. The GSA said Harvard still engages in race discrimination in its admissions and other campus activities.
This move comes shortly after the administration banned Harvard from enrolling international students. A federal judge in Boston temporarily blocked that ban and set a court hearing.
Last month, the administration also froze $2.2 billion in federal grants to Harvard. This happened because Harvard refused to remove diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and did not agree to assess international students for political beliefs.
President Trump said on social media that the money frozen for Harvard should be redirected to trade schools across the country.
The government says it must protect taxpayer money and work only with organizations that follow all federal laws and support nondiscrimination.
This story is still developing.
