Transparent Launches Bold New Wireless Speaker Made from Recycled Aluminum

Stockholm audio company Transparent has released a unique wireless speaker called the Brutalist Speaker.

This new product moves away from the company’s traditionally transparent designs and instead draws inspiration from Brutalist architecture.

The speaker stands over 23 inches tall and is made from 70 percent recycled aluminum. It features a 6.5-inch side-mounted woofer and two 3-inch tweeters placed at unusual 90 degree angles.

The design breaks from traditional speaker shapes and reflects the geometric style of 1950s Brutalist buildings.

Per Brickstad, the company’s creative director, explained that developing this speaker took three years.

The team faced challenges in sourcing recycled aluminum and designing a speaker with a larger acoustic volume.

The speaker supports high-resolution audio up to 24-bit/192kHz and includes connections like AirPlay 2, Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect, and Bluetooth 5.2. It is also compatible with Alexa, though it does not have a built-in microphone.

Priced at $4,000, the Brutalist Speaker is a premium product. Brickstad hints that this might be the first in a potential new product line using recycled aluminum.

The speaker represents Transparent’s commitment to innovative design and sustainable materials, transforming recycled materials into a high-end audio device.
