Today’s Crypto News: Phishing Loss, Trump’s Crypto Dinner, and Bitcoin Moves

A single crypto investor suffered a major loss today, falling victim to two phishing scams within just three hours, losing a total of $2.6 million in stablecoins. The scam used a sophisticated zero-value transfer technique, which tricks users into trusting fake transactions before sending real funds to attackers.

Crypto compliance firm Cyvers shared details of the incident on May 26. This scam method had previously been used to steal $20 million in USDT in 2023.

Meanwhile, US House Speaker Mike Johnson dismissed concerns over a secretive dinner hosted by former President Donald Trump for top holders of his memecoin, Official Trump (TRUMP).

Critics worry that foreign nationals may have paid for access to Trump at the May 22 event, but Johnson said he was unaware of the guest list and praised Trump’s transparency.

In other news, Michael Saylor, co-founder of Strategy, hinted at buying more Bitcoin. He shared a Bitcoin price chart that he usually posts before making purchases.

Strategy currently holds over 576,000 BTC, worth more than $62 billion, with gains exceeding $22 billion. Investors watch Saylor’s moves closely as a sign of institutional confidence in Bitcoin.
