Apple is rolling out iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26 with its brand-new Apple Intelligence features, but not all devices are invited to the party. Many older iPhones, iPads, and Macs will miss out on the AI-powered upgrades — even if they receive the new operating system updates.
iPhones Missing Out:
Apple Intelligence will only be available on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The regular iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models won’t support it. Any iPhones older than the iPhone 15 series are also left out, including previous Pro models.
iPads Missing Out:
If your iPad doesn’t have an M1 chip or the newer A17 Pro chip, it won’t get Apple Intelligence. This includes:
- iPad (9th and 10th gen)
- iPad Air models before M1
- iPad mini models before A17 Pro
- iPad Pro models with A12Z or A14 chips
MacBooks Missing Out:
Any MacBook Air or MacBook Pro without an M1 or newer processor is out. That means Intel-powered MacBooks won’t be able to run Apple Intelligence features.
Older Mac Desktops Missing Out:
If your desktop Mac doesn’t have M1, M2, or newer chips, it won’t support the AI tools. This includes older:
- iMac
- Mac mini
- Mac Pro
- Mac Studio models
Even with iOS 26 or macOS 26 installed, Apple Intelligence needs Apple Silicon to work properly. If you’re not using an M1 or newer chip, you’ll have to upgrade your device to enjoy Apple’s latest AI features.
