Apple is bringing big changes to the Apple TV 4K in 2025. A new software update called tvOS 26 will launch soon with three major features that aim to improve design, gaming, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
First, tvOS 26 will introduce a new design that matches the look of iOS 26 and other Apple devices.
The update will include fresh icons and smooth, glass-like effects inspired by Apple’s Vision Pro software. This will give Apple TV a more modern and unified feel across all Apple platforms.
Second, Apple is launching a new Games app for Apple TV. This app will act as a hub for all your games, show achievements, offer game suggestions, and let users explore and download new games.
It will also include social features like leaderboards. This move shows Apple’s push to grow its gaming experience across all devices.
Third, tvOS 26 will make it easier to connect to captive Wi-Fi networks—those that require logging in through a browser. With the new update, you’ll only need to sign in once on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, and your Apple TV will connect automatically.
This is a big improvement, since Apple TV currently struggles with such networks due to its lack of a web browser.
Apple may also improve Siri with AI upgrades, but those changes might need new hardware and may not arrive until later this year.
The full details of tvOS 26 will be revealed during Apple’s WWDC event, happening soon. These updates are expected to make the Apple TV 4K more useful, especially as more people turn to Apple TV+ for streaming.
Stay tuned for the official announcement.
