The Weeknd’s ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ Movie Flops, Booed by Audiences

Hurry Up Tomorrow Movie First Look

The Weeknd, also known as Abel Tesfaye, has faced another setback in his acting career. His new musical thriller, Hurry Up Tomorrow, opened to bad reviews and failed at the box office. This follows the failure of his earlier HBO series, The Idol, which was canceled after a poorly received season.

Critics and fans have criticized Tesfaye’s acting in both projects. Directed by Trey Edward Shults, Hurry Up Tomorrow features Tesfaye playing an exaggerated version of himself.

The film currently holds a very low 13% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, even lower than The Idol’s 19%. Critics say the movie feels like a side project to his album rather than a real film.

At the box office, Hurry Up Tomorrow earned only $3.3 million against a $15 million budget. It did not make the top five movies this weekend and was outperformed by The Accountant 2. Meanwhile, Tesfaye’s music tour is doing much better financially.

The film also stars Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan. Ortega, known for Wednesday and the Scream series, has seen mixed box office results lately. Keoghan, an Oscar nominee, is set to play Ringo Starr in an upcoming Beatles biopic.

This disappointing movie launch raises questions about both Tesfaye’s acting future and Ortega’s box office draw.
