As 2024 comes to a close, Apple has unveiled the most downloaded apps and games of the year across iPhone, iPad, and Apple Arcade.

The year-end charts, now available on the App Store’s Today tab, are localized for over 30 countries, so users can see the most popular downloads in their region.

In the US, the top free apps of the year are:

  1. Temu
  2. Threads
  3. TikTok
  4. ChatGPT
  5. Google

For free games, the top downloads are:

  1. Block Blast!
  2. MONOPOLY GO!
  3. Roblox
  4. Call of Duty: Warzone
  5. Township

The App Store also highlights the 2024 App Store Award winners, celebrating 17 exceptional apps and games that sparked creativity and helped users achieve new milestones.

While free apps and games continue to dominate the charts, the paid app category has seen less activity, with most of the top paid apps being older titles.

The free charts, however, provide an interesting look at shifting trends in the app world.
