Taylor Swift celebrated gaining ownership of her original master recordings with Selena Gomez during a night out in New York City on May 31.
The longtime friends were seen dining at Monkey Bar in Midtown Manhattan, a historic restaurant connected to Hotel Elysée. Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, was away in Kansas City for a charity event while she enjoyed the night with Gomez.
Swift, 35, had just announced on May 30 that she had reached a deal with Shamrock Capital to buy back the master recordings of her first six albums.
This ends a years-long battle that began in 2019 when Scooter Braun acquired her former label, Big Machine Records, gaining control of her original music.
In an emotional open letter to fans, Swift said:
“All of the music I’ve ever made… now belongs… to me.”
She revealed how difficult the process had been and thanked her fans for supporting her through her Eras Tour, which helped her make the deal.
Selena Gomez, 32, publicly congratulated her, writing: “Yes you did that Tay! So proud.”
Even Flavor Flav, who calls himself the “King Swiftie,” praised her achievement. Surprisingly, Braun also responded with a brief message: “I am happy for her.”
Swift also shared that her re-recording of the album Reputation is still incomplete:
“I haven’t even re-recorded a quarter of it… I kept hitting a stopping point.”
She hinted that unreleased tracks from that era may be shared in the future.
