Tarantino and Fincher Team Up for Netflix’s $200M ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ Sequel

Brad Pitt in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Filming has begun in Los Angeles for The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth, a sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. This time, director David Fincher is behind the camera, while Brad Pitt returns to play Cliff Booth, the stuntman-turned-Hollywood fixer.

Tarantino wrote the script but chose not to direct. This marks the first time Fincher and Tarantino have worked together. The two last collaborated when Fincher directed The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which starred Pitt. The new movie is being made for Netflix and is expected to be released in 2026. The budget is reported to be $200 million.

The story follows Cliff Booth in 1970s Hollywood, where he now works as a fixer for movie studios. The full plot is still a secret. The cast includes Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, JB Tadena, and Corey Fogelmanis. Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie may return as Rick Dalton and Sharon Tate, but this has not been confirmed.

Photos from the set show Brad Pitt in a shaggy blond wig, filming scenes outside Tarantino’s New Beverly Cinema.

The first film was a tribute to 1960s Hollywood and made $377 million worldwide. It won two Academy Awards. Some fans are unsure about Fincher directing the sequel, as his style is darker than Tarantino’s. Others are excited to see a new take on the world Tarantino created.

Many fans have shared their thoughts online, with some excited for Booth’s return and others wishing the movie would play in theaters instead of streaming only.
