Singer SZA has publicly responded to rapper Nicki Minaj, clarifying their professional relationship after recent comments made by Minaj sparked attention online.
In a message posted on social media, SZA said that Nicki Minaj is well aware of her music and contributions to the industry. She revealed that Minaj has previously requested to collaborate with her twice, but SZA did not respond to those requests.
SZA also pointed out that Minaj has performed her lyrics in the past. She referenced the song “Feeling Myself,” in which Minaj rapped the line, “Cooking up the bass looking like a kilo,” which originally comes from SZA’s work.
SZA’s Statement
SZA addressed Minaj directly, writing:
“Nicki. You absolutely know my music and what I contribute cause you’ve asked for features twice to no response. In addition to rapping my lyrics on ‘Feeling Myself’—‘Cooking up the bass looking like a kilo’? Lol ur having a moment… I’m not sure why but be blessed.”
Her comments suggest there may have been confusion or miscommunication about whether the two artists have tried to collaborate. SZA’s statement appears to clarify that she chose not to respond to Minaj’s feature requests but still acknowledges the mutual respect between artists.
No Official Collaboration Yet
Despite both being major figures in the music industry, SZA and Nicki Minaj have not officially released a song together. However, both artists continue to maintain large fan bases and are known for their chart-topping hits.
There has been no further public comment from Nicki Minaj on the matter as of now.
