Netflix’s global hit Squid Game is set to conclude with two final seasons, with Season 2 premiering on December 26, 2024, and Season 3 slated for 2025.
Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk revealed the decision to split the story was due to an unexpected abundance of material.
“I originally envisioned Seasons 2 and 3 as a single story,” Hwang shared in an interview. However, during the writing process, the content grew too extensive for one season. Dividing the narrative ensures a more coherent and engaging conclusion.
Season 2 Details
Season 2 sees Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) re-enter the deadly games to save others, while familiar faces like Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), the Recruiter (Gong Yoo), and Detective Hwang Jun-ho (Wi Ha-jun) return.
The new season builds on the success of the 2021 debut, which became Netflix’s most-watched show at the time.
Fans can expect intense drama, shocking twists, and more of the series’ iconic visuals.
