Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk explained that this event represented Gi-hun’s ultimate crisis and sets the stage for his guilt in Season 3.

Mid-Credits Scene: New Squid Game Clues

The mid-credits scene teases a new version of the Squid Game, featuring male and female versions of the deadly “Red Light, Green Light” doll. This hints at what’s to come in Season 3.

What to Expect in Season 3

Hwang confirmed that Season 3 will explore Gi-hun’s emotional state after his failure and the loss of his friend.

“Gi-hun will not be the same,” he said, hinting at a critical turning point in the character’s journey. Season 3 could premiere in summer or fall 2025.
