Fans of South Park have reason to rejoice as co-creator Matt Stone confirmed that a special movie for 2025 is in the works.
The show, which is entering its 28th year in 2025, will continue its legacy with a near-feature-length special early in the year, followed by more episodes later on.
Despite a quieter 2024 with only one special airing and no new season, Stone reassured fans that the South Park team is far from slowing down.
He revealed in a recent interview that the showโs 2025 plans include a special movie set for release in early 2025. However, rumors of a theatrical movie remain unsubstantiated, with the series sticking to its small-screen roots for now.
The series’ production has slowed due to the creators’ involvement in other projects, including a live-action movie with Kendrick Lamar, which is expected to release in the summer of 2025.
Stone also shared that South Park would return with new episodes in the second half of 2025, following the movie special.
Stone emphasized that the team doesnโt foresee an end for the series anytime soon, calling it a “sandbox” they love to work in.
With the upcoming special and potential new seasons, fans can rest assured that South Park will continue to provide its signature blend of satire for years to come.
