In the wake of Blake Lively’s bombshell allegations against director and co-star Justin Baldoni, Sony Pictures has expressed unwavering support for the actress.
Lively, known for her role in It Ends With Us, filed a complaint accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment, creating a toxic work environment, and attempting to damage her reputation with a targeted smear campaign.
A spokesperson for Sony Pictures reiterated their commitment to Lively, saying, “We fully and firmly reiterate that support today,” and condemning any attacks on her character. The studio emphasized that such behavior has no place in the industry or society.
The allegations, which were first reported by The New York Times, claim that Baldoni’s actions caused severe emotional harm to Lively and her family. Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, has denied the allegations, calling them “shameful” and “categorically false.”
In addition to Sony’s statement, Lively has received widespread support from her co-stars. It Ends With Us co-star Brandon Sklenar shared Lively’s complaint on Instagram, urging followers to read it.
SAG-AFTRA also voiced their backing, praising Lively for speaking out and for her decision to request an intimacy coordinator for scenes involving nudity or sexual content.
Baldoni has faced professional fallout as well, with his podcast host Liz Plank announcing her departure from Man Enough, citing the need for change and support for those who stand against injustice.
Lively’s colleagues from Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, including America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, and Alexis Bledel, as well as A Simple Favor director Paul Feig, have also voiced their support.
Even It Ends With Us author Colleen Hoover shared a heartfelt message, expressing gratitude for Lively’s kindness and honesty.
In the wake of these events, Baldoni has been dropped as a client by WME, the agency that also represents Lively.
