Sony has officially launched the WF-1000XM6, the newest flagship earbuds in its 1000X noise-canceling lineup. Announced on February 12, 2026, the model succeeds the popular Sony WF-1000XM5 with major upgrades in sound, noise cancellation, and call performance.

The Sony WF-1000XM6 were co-created with mastering audio engineers to deliver what Sony calls “studio-level” sound accuracy. The earbuds feature a redesigned driver with improved materials, 32-bit audio signal processing, an upgraded DAC, and a new 10-band EQ available through the Sony Headphones Connect app.

Noise cancellation is the key focus. Sony claims a 25% reduction in noise compared to the previous model. The earbuds use Sony’s V2 processor with a new QN3e chip, which is said to be three times faster than the earlier QN2e. They also include eight adaptive microphones, dual beamforming mics, bone conduction sensors, AI-based noise reduction, and an Adaptive NC Optimizer. A 50% larger wireless antenna aims to improve connection stability.

Sony says call quality is its best yet. The improved microphone system and AI processing help isolate voices and reduce background noise. The earbuds have a matte finish and are 11% slimmer for a more secure and comfortable fit. They carry an IPX4 rating for splash resistance.

Battery life remains competitive. Users get up to 8 hours with active noise cancellation on or 12 hours without. With the charging case, total battery life extends to 24 hours with ANC or 36 hours without. The earbuds also support wireless charging and multipoint Bluetooth connectivity.

The WF-1000XM6 are priced at $329 in the United States and around €299 in Europe, marking a price increase from the XM5’s $299 launch. They are available in Black and Platinum Silver through Sony’s website and major retailers.

Early reviews praise the improved sound detail and stronger noise cancellation, especially with a proper fit. However, some critics mention the higher price and strong competition in the premium earbud market. With this launch, Sony aims to strengthen its position at the top of the wireless audio segment.
