Sony has announced new projects to turn its popular games into movies and TV shows. The news came during the CES 2025 keynote, where PlayStation Productions head Asad Qizilbash and Screen Gems president Ashley Brucks shared their plans.
Sony revealed that a Horizon Zero Dawn movie is in the early stages of development. The film will follow Aloy’s origin story in a futuristic world. Earlier plans for a Netflix series were canceled, and this movie is now the main project for the franchise.
Sony Pictures is also working on a film adaptation of Helldivers 2, a game that was a hit last year. Details about the movie are limited, but it is expected to expand on the game’s themes.
Sony announced an anime adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima. Crunchyroll and Aniplex are teaming up to bring the popular game to life as a TV show.
Neil Druckmann, co-creator of The Last of Us, shared a clip from season 2 of the hit TV show. The new season will premiere on Max in April 2025.
