Should You Pay for MasterClass’s AI Course? Here’s What I Learned

MasterClass

I’ve always been curious about artificial intelligence (AI), and after seeing ads for a MasterClass series, I decided to dive deeper into the world of AI.

The course, titled Achieve More with GenAI, is a three-part series designed to teach how AI can be used for work, creativity, and everyday life. Here’s what I learned and how it’s changed the way I use AI.

The Course Structure

The course, led by AI experts Ethan Mollick, Allie K. Miller, Don Allen Stevenson III, and Manuel Sansily, explores AI’s role in various areas, from productivity to creativity.

It costs between $120 and $240 per year, but there’s a 30-day money-back guarantee, and guest passes are sometimes available for a trial.

GenAI for Productivity

In the first episode, Mollick and Miller introduced the history of AI and its potential to boost productivity. I learned how AI can help with everything from writing to business planning.

Miller showed how AI can help develop a business plan, starting with brainstorming and moving through stages like evaluation and feedback. I realized that AI could help with professional tasks, not just personal ones. For example, I used AI-powered tools like Yoodli to get feedback on my communication skills.

GenAI for Creativity

The second episode focused on using AI for creative tasks. Stevenson, a creative technologist, showed how AI tools like Dall-E (an image generator) and Udio (an AI music generator) can assist with business planning, logo design, and even music creation.

I created my own visuals and branding ideas using AI, which was a fun and surprisingly effective way to bring my ideas to life.

GenAI for Ethics and the Future

In the final episode, Sansily, a futurist, discussed how AI could be used ethically and to optimize routine tasks. He introduced the concept of an “AI twin” — a digital version of yourself that learns from your habits and experiences.

This AI twin can act as a personal assistant and even help others interact with your digital self.

Should You Pay for the Course?

After completing the course, I feel more informed about AI and its potential. I now understand AI’s rapid growth and how it can be used in many areas of life.

If you’re curious about AI or overwhelmed by its possibilities, I recommend this course. It’s a great introduction to AI, and even if you’re tech-savvy, it’s worth the 90 minutes to learn more about how AI works and how it can benefit you.
