Shakira has canceled her scheduled concert in Washington DC, marking her second cancellation in just three days. The Colombian star was set to perform at the WorldPride festival but had to pull out due to complications with her prior Boston show.
The host stadium confirmed the cancellation, explaining that issues from the Boston concert prevented Shakira’s full tour production from arriving in Washington DC on time.
Shakira released a statement saying unforeseen circumstances affected her and other artists in Boston, making it impossible to move the entire tour setup in time.
She expressed her disappointment, saying she had been looking forward to reuniting with fans in both cities. “I promise that I will do everything in my power to be with you as soon as I can,” Shakira added.
Fans received immediate refunds for the Washington DC concert, which was canceled just two days after the Boston show was called off due to a safety issue.
Shakira is currently touring North America as part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour, supporting her 12th studio album. Her next scheduled performance is in Atlanta on June 2.
The year began on a high note for Shakira, who recently won a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album for Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran. At the ceremony, she dedicated her win to immigrants in the United States, saying, “You are loved. You are worth it, and I will always fight with you.”
