A man and woman in Brazil died after their car plunged from a cliff while having sex, police say.
According to CNN Brasil, 26-year-old Marcone da Silva Cardoso and 42-year-old Adriana Machado Ribeiro were inside a parked vehicle at a hang-gliding overlook in Venda Nova do Imigrante.
Investigators believe the rocking motion from the couple’s activity caused the vehicle to roll over the edge, falling more than 300 meters (about 1,000 feet).
Cardoso’s body was found at the scene, while firefighters later recovered Ribeiro’s body from the wreckage.
Under Brazilian law, the act would be classified as an “obscene act” under Article 233 of the Penal Code. If they had been caught before the fall, the couple could have faced a fine or up to a year in prison.
Both victims were parents from previous relationships. Ribeiro had a son and daughter with her ex-husband, while Cardoso had a four-year-old son with his former partner, who described him on social media as “the love of my life.”
Local resident Tiago Amorim witnessed the incident and described it as “a shocking scene,” saying the car fell nearly 150 meters from where it had been parked.
